FAQ Bone Broth

We do not refrigerate our products during transportation due to the use of a double pasteurization method. This method ensures that our products remain shelf-stable without the need for cooling. The double pasteurization process involves subjecting the product to two rounds of heat treatment to eliminate harmful bacteria and microorganisms, thereby extending its shelf life.

Thanks to this pasteurization method, our products can be safely transported without refrigeration. Even in the case of delays in the transportation process, the quality and safety of our products remain intact. However, it is important to note that once the products are delivered to you, it is advisable to promptly remove them from the box and place them in the refrigerator to maintain their optimal shelf life, as indicated in the instructions on the packaging.

We highly recommend ordering well in advance if you intend to fast or follow a specific bone broth program. While we strive to meet your desired delivery date, we cannot guarantee that the order will be delivered on the exact day and date you have chosen.

It is crucial to consider potential delays that are beyond our control, such as unforeseen logistics challenges or transportation issues. To avoid disappointment, we advise placing your order well in advance, allowing sufficient time before you commence your fasting period or begin your program.

We want to make sure that our product is suitable for everyone, including babies, people undergoing chemotherapy, people with allergies to certain vegetables, and even people who have undergone gastric bypass surgery. By not adding vegetables and using only a small amount of Celtic sea salt, our broth maintains a subtle taste that doesn’t overpower. We produce our products based on their nutrient content rather than their flavor. Our products are also suitable for pets such as dogs and cats.

We are working with nature and we are very proud about that. Therefore the consistency of the structure and the color of the bone broth will vary from batch to batch. Due to our working with local small farmers and butchers the raw materials used to make the broth aren’t uniform and are always different. The gelatine structure depends on various factors such as: age, gander, season, weather,  and the composition of the bones. The color depends on the amount of meat on the bones.

We are clean label food producers, we don’t add anything extra to our broths in the form of chemicals, preservatives or/and colourings.

This is why our products may look different from time to time, as it is a natural product!

When you consider the quality of our organic ingredients, production methods, and the nutritional value of our product – we are actually selling our products at a cheaper price than we could be.

We want to make it available to a wide range of people, and not just the ‘happy few’!

Bone broth has zero carbs and is high in protein so it’s a popular choice for people who follow a keto diet. You can consume it every day, although you don’t need to drink it excessively. A cup or two several days a week is a good amount for promoting healthy living.

We simmer the bones for up to 32 hours in filtered water. By using low heat and cooking the bones for a long period of time, we’re able to optimize our broth. It’s rich in collagen, amino acids, and minerals. We also use all organic products and herbs to enhance the flavour. After cooking, we strain the broth and package it into glass jars. Then we warm the jars with steam to ensure the broth stays fresh.

Our broths contain all of the important types of collagen: type 1, 2, and 3. Type 3 collagen comes from bone marrow. Our chicken bone broth is high in type 2 collagen, which is found in cartilage, although our other broths contain some as well. Type 1, which is the main type found in the human body, is the primary collagen in all of our broths. It comes from bone and tendons.

The small white bits are the natural fat from the bones. We do remove most of the fat so you likely will only see a small amount, which will dissolve when heated. This fat does enhance the richness of the broth and it’s 100 percent safe for you to drink.

Every jar of bone broth is made using fresh, local ingredients. You may notice subtle differences to the taste because we’re using bones from different small scale farmers. Babs Pure is always unflavored.

The main nutrient in bone broth is collagen, which is a protein that our body uses almost everywhere. We need plenty of collagen for healthy bones, teeth, and joints, as well as for our hair, skin, and nails.

For soups and stews, you can dilute the broth up to two times with 500 ml of water, this is the size of the jar. If you’re drinking it for the health benefits, or if you’re making sauces, we don’t recommend diluting it at all!

We only use high-quality bones from organically raised farm animals. Then we slow-cook our broth. Conventional brands generally use a blend of low-quality bones and paste. They also cook it up on a too high a heat, which is why you won’t see all the gelatin or end up with all the amino acids that real bone broth has.

Our broth has a higher nutrient density and no antibiotics, hormones, or other ingredients you wouldn’t want to put in your body. It contains up to 20 grams of protein and up to 14 grams of collagen for every 100 ml,  as compared to 0.5 to 2.5 grams protein and 0 grams of collagen per 100 ml for the broths you buy in the grocery store.

If you don’t think you will finish the opened jar of bone broth within one week, you can freeze the rest in freezer-safe ice cube trays. This is a great way to portion your bone broth for smoothies or keto coffee.

Keep in mind, however, that when you freeze and thaw a liquid repeatedly, it can change the consistency of the broth.

Our broths have a long shelf life as we use a traditional way of heat preservation. Store our products in the refrigerator.

Expiration date: good up to 12 months

Dont freeze our broth in full jars. The liquid will expand during the freezing process. In the freezer store half filled jars or portion it into smaller portions using an ice cube tray.

It’s in there! If you don’t see the jiggly gelatin goodness in your jar of bone broth when it arrives, don’t worry. This is normal because of the temperature changes during transit, the gelatin may have liquefied. Once it cools down, the gelatin will congeal and you’ll be able to see the collagen protein.

Once your bone broth arrives, you can place the jars in the fridge. The ideal temperature for storing our bone broth is 2 to 3 °C. You can also store the broths in a cold, dark place.

Yes, our bone broths are certified as 100% organic.

Our ingredients are sourced from humane farms in the Netherlands and Belgium. This is what sets Babs Bone Broths apart from other producers — we’re passionate about only using the highest quality ingredients in all of our recipes.

All types of bone broth — beef, chicken and pork — are an excellent source of collagen and other nutrients. Each contains different amounts of protein and amino acids so you can rotate the type of bone broth you consume if you want to get the full range of nutrients in your diet.

Bone broth in itself doesn’t have any known risks. However, be sure to maintain a healthy, well-balanced diet and don’t drink bone broth as a substitute for medical care!

You can heat it up and sip the bone broth as it is.. To add  more flavor:  add  fresh/grated ginger, garlic, scallions, rosemary, cayenne, or any other herbs and spices you choose to use. Or simply season with sea salt, pepper, fresh lemon and enjoy. For a PDF of simple combinations, click here.

With Babs Pure, go ahead and add it to coffee, smoothies, homemade collagen gummy bears, and any other recipes you want to try, including baked goods and desserts. Babs Pure is unflavored, so it won’t affect the taste!

Babs Beef Bone Broth, Pork Bone Broth, and Chicken Bone Broth all make a delicious base for pho, chilli, ramen, stews, and any  other dishes you want to enhance with rich flavor and healthy collagen and protein.

You can drink bone broth every day if you want. For general support, we recommend approximately 4 cups per week.

One cup = app. 200 ml

Note: It is important to remember that every body is different! We all have different genetic and cultural traits. Even if everyone started eating the same things and did the same amount of exercise for a whole year, we would not all look the same at the end of the year. Listen to your body.

Whenever you like to have a satisfying snack or meal, you can have bone broth. Some people drink a cup between meals for a nutritious snack. Consider making it a part of your healthy morning ritual — a tablespoon or two in your coffee will help to keep you energised and focused.

You can also consume bone broth by adding some in a smoothie or drink a cup of warm bone broth after working out. This is a great way to provide your body with protein and other nutrients to support muscle recovery.
