There’s a reason Babs Bone Broth products are so satisfying. We are not only committed to using the highest quality ingredients that Mother Nature has to offer. We also know every step of the production process for every ingredient we source. We’ve taken the time to learn the story of each ingredient so we can share our whole story with you.

Babs Pure

BABS Bone Broth Pure is a combination of certified organic beef bone marrow and certified organic pig’s hooves. A lot of bone broths are made with beef bones only, but we also use pig’s hooves because they are high in bioavailable collagen proteins, which support the health of our gut, skin, hair, and joints. The bone marrow is incredibly nutritious as well. It contains almost every essential mineral. It’s also easier for our body to digest than meats or plant-based foods so we can absorb more of the nutrient content.

We simmer the bones in filtered water for between 24 and 32 hours without any vegetables or herbs. As a result, you can enjoy a broth with a mild flavor, which you can add to your coffee, smoothies, oatmeal, soups, hot drinks, sauces, stir-fry dishes, and really any food you’d like, whether sweet or savory. The pure, clean taste won’t change the flavor of your food at all.

In fact, we make our unflavored broth so you can add it to your cooking, enhancing your food with extra nourishment, providing your body with healthy collagen, and boosting digestion.

We source the beef bones from Limousin and Simmental cattle. We chose these breeds for many reasons, including their healthy lifestyle and natural diets. These animals are grass-fed and free to roam. The calves grow up in the grassy hills of the Belgian Ardennes. Because this hilly landscape makes doing anything with machines almost impossible, the soil is still relatively untouched, making it easier for the farmers to maintain their organic certification.

The calves are born in the spring, and then they go into the meadow with their mother until mid-fall. During this time, the cows only eat grass while the calves eat grass and their mother’s milk. The bulls roam in the meadows with the cows during the summer, which allows the animals to become fertilized naturally. During the winter, the animals are kept in a stable to stay warm, where they are fed hay and silage. The beef cattle are raised for ten years.
The meat of this type of cattle is known for being very tender. Because they eat so well throughout their lives, the animals tend to have a healthy layer of fat and the meat is often slightly marbled, which enhances the taste. Using this breed ensures our Pure Bone Broth is high in collagen and rich in important nutrients, including amino acids, vitamins, and minerals.

Our pig’s hooves come from organic pigs raised by local farmers in the Gelderland area. The pigs enjoy plenty of sunshine and fresh air and are free to roam around. They grow up on an organic diet that includes a variety of fruits and veggies that grow on the farm.

traditional beef bone broth

BABS Traditional Beef Bone Broth is made from 100 percent beef bones from Aberdeen, Angus, Scottish Highlander, Limousin, and Galloway cows. The broth is rich in collagen and is made from the bones and ligaments of grass-fed cows from biologically certified herds. These animals spend their entire lives roaming around outside in Dutch nature reserves. These animals live a very natural, peaceful life. They are never given antibiotics, and there are zero artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives used at any point.

We simmer the beef bones in filtered water with organic vegetables and herbs. The resulting broth has a smooth flavor with a comforting rosemary scent. It’s a wonderful broth to use as the base for soups, stews, sauces, and warm beverages. You can sip it on its own for a nourishing drink or add it to your cooking to improve the nutrition and digestibility of your meals.

You can taste the quality of the meat from the rich, highly gelatinous broth we make. We simmer the bones for between 24 and 32 hours to get the most nutrition from the bones. Bone marrow is very fatty and gelatinous, and the marrow has a high mineral content. By cooking slowly for longer, our broth contains more nutrients and collagen.

At the same time, we don’t simmer our broth for too long – it’s believed that cooking beef bone broth for more than 48 hours can release the amino acid glutamine. High amounts of glutamate may be a concern for those with neurological issues such as autism, multiple sclerosis, and ADHD.

Our Beef Bone Broth is pasteurized one time and so has a shelf life of two months.

The cattle are raised in herds that graze on 17,000 acres of beautiful green pasture in the Netherlands. They graze on the rich vegetation of Dutch National Parks, forests, and floodplains. The herds are closely monitored, and the owners know what their cows eat and do all day long. These animals live well and are allowed to grow up slowly and without the stresses that cattle who live on industrial farms face.

CHICKEN bone broth

BABS Chicken Bone Broth is made from certified BIO chicken bones and collagen-rich chicken claws (feet). We use an old, traditional recipe to ensure you enjoy a savory, tasty broth that can be enjoyed alone or as a base for soups, sauces, and other recipes. The broth is simmered in filtered water with organic vegetables and herbs for over seven hours.

As a result, our Chicken Bone Broth is high in collagen and tastes absolutely delicious. With that lovely traditional chicken broth taste, you’ll love adding it to risottos, stews, or even relishing as a warming, nourishing drink. We suggest heating yourself up a mug for a treat after a long day and adding to your favorite recipes.

With the gelatin from the broth, your body will have an easier time absorbing the vitamins and minerals from your food, not to mention all the nutrition you’ll gain from the bone broth itself!

Our Chicken Bone Broth is pasteurized one time and so has a shelf life of two months.

We use a special breed of chicken that is slow-growing. Having plenty of time to grow and enjoy life leads to stronger, healthier chickens that don’t require antibiotics. You can taste the difference in the broth, which is rich and aromatic. It’s also very high in protein, thanks to these healthy chickens – 100 mL of the broth contains 14.8 grams of protein compared to 0.5 to 1.5 grams found in conventional chicken broths.

NORTH SEA FISH bone broth

BABS North Sea Fish Bone Broth is made from the collagen-rich bones of wild North Sea fish. We use the fish heads and spines, which contain important nutrients including a high concentration of collagen.

We simmer the fish bones in filtered water with organic vegetables and herbs for two hours. Because we strive to optimize the nutritional value of all our broths, we make sure not to cook the broth in a way that would destroy the essential omega-3 fatty acids from the fish.

So, we keep the broth temperature below 176 degrees Fahrenheit (80 degrees Celsius) and simmer for a shorter time than our other broths. Our careful cooking methods are what set our Fish Bone Broth apart – the broth contains a huge amount of healthy proteins, omega fatty acids, and minerals from the sea that your body will thank you for!

Because of the high concentration of collagen and minerals in the fish, our North Sea Fish Bone Broth is one of the healthiest foods you can enjoy. Fish bone broth contains more nutrition than animal bone broths, including hard-to-find minerals such as natural iodine. With all that marine collagen, the nutrition is also more bioavailable. And finally, these fish are wild, so they are never subject to man-made processes during their lifetime.

If you love to cook, you’ll love BABS Fish Bone Broth. It has a lighter flavor than beef or chicken broth, giving it more culinary versatility. Add it to your cooked veggies, risottos, and soups for a boost of nutrition and flavor.

As we buy freshly caught fish and use different types of fish, depending on what’s the freshest and what the fishermen we work with decide should be caught that day, you will notice subtle differences in flavor from batch to batch.

Our Fish Bone Broth is frozen, not pasteurized, as pasteurization can destroy the fish oil.

All of the fish we use are organic and MSC certified. We work with artisan fishermen from the Good Fisherman association in The Netherlands. These fishermen are committed to following sustainable practices that respect the waters and help to maintain fish populations. They care about how the fish was caught, where it was caught and when. This thoughtful, respectful approach makes a huge difference in the flavor, which is why our fish bone broth is so delicious.

These broths are high in quality gelatin from all the collagen, which is semi-solid when cold. Once warm or at room temperature, the gelatin becomes a liquid so all you need to do to enjoy your broth is warm it and serve.

When you sip our bone broths, you’re tasting food as Mother Nature intends – it’s rich, flavorful, and dynamic. As we only use fresh, local ingredients, you may notice subtle changes to the taste as the seasons change.

This is because the animals we use to make bone broth live outside and eat a variety of organic herbs, grasses, and other fruits of the earth and sea. You can always count on the goodness of nutrient-dense broth as all our bone broths contain denatured collagen, but you can also count on nuances in flavor. These varying flavor tones come not only from the shifting seasons but also from the ever-changing local climate. Factors such as the amount of sunlight, rain, and wind all impact the taste of our products.

We are working with nature as it is, embracing the variety and uniqueness in every batch.

OUR fish are wild, so they are never subject to man-made processes during their lifetime.
