Tips for Use:
Because our Bone Broth is made with natural ingredients and no additives, it can appear to ‘gel’ when cold. That’s a good thing! That means it is a powerhouse source of collagen and other nutrients.
To get your bone broth ready to drink, warm at a low to medium temperature. When it’s warm, you can sip, mix, blend, and savor in its liquid form.
If you have no gelatine: the bone broth might be liqued when you receive your package or when your refrigerator temperature is to high. Do not panic – just put the jars in the refrigerator and make sure the temperature is between 2 – 3 C.
HOW IS IT MADE
BABS Traditional Beef Bone Broth is made from 100 percent beef bones from Aberdeen, Angus, Scottish Highlander, Limousin, and Galloway cows. The broth is rich in collagen and is made from the bones and ligaments of grass-fed cows from biologically certified herds. These animals spend their entire lives roaming around outside in Dutch nature reserves. These animals live a very natural, peaceful life. They are never given antibiotics, and there are zero artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives used at any point.
We simmer the beef bones in filtered water with organic vegetables and herbs. The resulting broth has a smooth flavor with a comforting rosemary scent. It’s a wonderful broth to use as the base for soups, stews, sauces, and warm beverages. You can sip it on its own for a nourishing drink or add it to your cooking to improve the nutrition and digestibility of your meals.
You can taste the quality of the meat from the rich, highly gelatinous broth we make. We simmer the bones for between 24 and 32 hours to get the most nutrition from the bones. Bone marrow is very fatty and gelatinous, and the marrow has a high mineral content. By cooking slowly for longer, our broth contains more nutrients and collagen.
At the same time, we don’t simmer our broth for too long – it’s believed that cooking beef bone broth for more than 48 hours can release the amino acid glutamine. High amounts of glutamate may be a concern for those with neurological issues such as autism, multiple sclerosis, and ADHD.
Our Beef Bone Broth is pasteurized one time and so has a shelf life of two months.
North Sea Fish Bone Broth is made from the collagen-rich bones of wild North Sea fish. We use the fish heads and spines, which contain important nutrients including a high concentration of collagen.
We simmer the fish bones in filtered water with organic vegetables and herbs for two hours. Because we strive to optimize the nutritional value of all our broths, we make sure not to cook the broth in a way that would destroy the essential omega-3 fatty acids from the fish. So, we keep the broth temperature below 176 degrees Fahrenheit (80 degrees Celsius) and simmer for a shorter time than our other broths. Our careful cooking methods are what set our Fish Bone Broth apart – the broth contains a huge amount of healthy proteins, omega fatty acids, and minerals from the sea that your body will thank you for!

The broth is simmered in filtered water with organic vegetables and herbs for over seven hours. As a result, our Chicken Bone Broth is high in collagen and tastes absolutely delicious. Where the bones come from
GRASS-FED BEEF BONE BROTH
The cattle are raised in herds that graze on 17,000 acres of beautiful green pasture in the Netherlands. They graze on the rich vegetation of Dutch National Parks, forests, and floodplains. The herds are closely monitored, and the owners know what their cows eat and do all day long. These animals live well and are allowed to grow up slowly and without the stresses that cattle who live on industrial farms face.
NORTH SEA FISH BONE BROTH:
All of the fish we use are organic and MSC certified. We work with artisan fishermen from the Good Fisherman association in The Netherlands. These fishermen are committed to following sustainable practices that respect the waters and help to maintain fish populations. They care about how the fish was caught, where it was caught and when. This thoughtful, respectful approach makes a huge difference in the flavor, which is why our fish bone broth is so delicious.
CHICKEN BONE BROTH:
We use a special breed of chicken that is slow-growing. Having plenty of time to grow and enjoy life leads to stronger, healthier chickens that don’t require antibiotics. You can taste the difference in the broth, which is rich and aromatic. It’s also very high in protein, thanks to these healthy chickens – 100 mL of the broth contains 14.8 grams of protein compared to 0.5 to 1.5 grams found in conventional chicken broths.
We simmer the bones in filtered water for between 24 and 32 hours without any vegetables or herbs. As a result, you can enjoy a broth with a mild flavor, which you can add to your coffee, smoothies, oatmeal, soups, hot drinks, sauces, stir-fry dishes, and really any food you’d like, whether sweet or savory.
